The Role

We are seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate, thorough, and well-supported estimates for grading and utility construction projects.

This role is critical to project success. You will analyze plans, quantities, production rates, subcontractor pricing, and risk. You will follow established estimating systems while continuously improving accuracy and reliability. You will work closely with operations and leadership to ensure projects are priced to be built successfully.

This position values precision, consistency, and sound judgment over speed.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare detailed estimates for grading, storm, sewer, and water projects
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents thoroughly and methodically
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
  • Maintain organized estimate files and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate professionally with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Support preconstruction planning and clean job handoffs
  • Follow established estimating procedures while improving accuracy and efficiency

What We’re Looking For

Estimating or field experience in grading and/or utility construction
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and specifications
Ability to read and interpret civil plans and technical documents
Experience with HeavyBid, AGTEK, Trimble, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar
Organized, dependable, and consistent
Comfortable working independently while supporting a larger team
Someone who values accuracy, reliability, and doing things the right way

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of civil estimating or field experience
  • Knowledge of local market pricing and vendors
